December 3, 2003 – Athena Smartcard Solutions, a leading manufacturer of smart card solutions, smart cards and smart card readers, today announces that ASEDrive IIIe readers received the: "Designed for Windows Server 2003" Certification.Continuing the tradition of providing the market with the best performance and reliability possible, ASEDrive IIIe USB and ASEDrive IIIe Serial Smartcard Reader in Desktop as well as in Keyboard format have been certified by Microsoft for Server 2003. This certification by Microsoft ensures the user and administrator with full compatibility and ease of deployment. The ASEDrive IIIe Smartcard Readers firmware is fully upgradeable through Flash memory ensuring that it will not become obsolete. Landing contacts ensure over 300,000 insertion/removal cycles, protecting both the reader and the smart card used. ASEDrive IIIe Smartcard Readers support all ISO7816 CPU smart cards including Java Cards, Cryptographic smart cards, such as the Athena ASECard Crypto, as well as the most popular memory cards. As an additional feature, a write protected E2PROM area for user-defined information such as serial number, user code, etc. is provided within the reader’s internal memory.
