December 4, 2003 – Athena Smartcard Solutions, a leading manufacturer of smart card solutions, smart cards and smart card readers, today announced the release of ASECard Crypto SDK 2.0, the latest version of its professional smart card development kit.Continuing the tradition of the ASE DK, the PC/SC based ASECard Crypto SDK provides smart card developers and integrators with a multi-level environment for developing any type of smart card application and supporting all modern cryptographic requirements. High-level support includes PKCS#11 and CAPI libraries fine-tuned to provide superb performance, on-card RSA key generation, digital signatures, and certificate verification. The supplied APDU library abstracts the low-level card commands and provides an easy to use interface to all the ASECard Crypto commands. ASECard Viewer, the innovative Explorer-like GUI, provides, for the first time, full access to all card commands including all cryptographic operations such as key generation, encryption, signing, external and internal authentication, etc. The ASECard Crypto SDK includes code samples, utilities, 10 ASECard Crypto smart cards, two ASEDrive IIIe PC/SC smart card readers and extensive documentation. With the ASECard Crypto smart card and SDK, developers now have open access to rich smart card features once only available to a small number of developers.
